Collection of Games and Toys

Prior to the coming of mains electricity to Cardwell, and of course, the much later advent of Television Shows, families found joy and entertainment through playing games of all varieties. Our display showcases a collection of board games including a Motor Rider; the Down Mail; a Bicycle Game with directions; and the British Empire Game circa early 1900’s, together with a metal Train set plus the old favourite Fiddle Sticks, a game of skill and balance.

Other toys on show include an Grimms Fairy Tale Book; an Abacus type game, a Viewfinder with picture discs; Animals and cards. All these games of yesteryear survived the terrible devastation of the then Museum by Cyclone YASI in 2011.
